Millard Shurina Obituary

Millard (Mimi) Shurina, 91, of Natrona Heights, Fawn Twp., (Allegheny County) passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025, in the VA Healthcare System, Pittsburgh.

Millard was born December 29, 1933, in DuBois, Clearfield County, to the late Stefan and Vincencia Shurina. He resided most of his life in the Alle-Kiski Valley.

Mr. Shurina was a U.S. Veteran, proudly serving in the Navy during the Korean War.

He attended West Deer High School and worked as a truck driver for Bremans Express in Leechburg and Blue Diamond in Maryland. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union.

He loved being outdoors and enjoyed all kinds of wildlife and domestic animals. He spent his free time hunting, fishing and sitting by his Koi pond. As a younger man he enjoyed playing football. He also loved to go dancing with his wife.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 70 years, Barbara A. Shurina of Fawn Twp., his son Lonnie Shurina (Alberta) of Ruffsdale, his daughter, Renee Maholic of Fawn Twp., his grandchildren Jessica Anderson, Jennifer Ungashick, Bradley Shurina and Lisa Shinsky. His great grandchildren Blake Anderson, Arianna Ungashick, Easton Shinsky, Estella Shinsky, Jericho Shurina and Josselynne Shurina and His sister, Olga Fricioni of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents mentioned above, his brothers, Vincent, Joe, John and Steve Shurina, his sisters, Mary W. Wright and Stefania Conway.

 In accordance with Millard’s request, there will be no public visitation or funeral ceremonies. The DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth Street, Freeport. (724-295-3100) is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
